Multi piece gilt brass case with simulated bamboo pillars and handle with foliate decoration around the top and base.

Dial

Annular cream fired enamel dial signed Le Roy & Fils, with Arabic numerals set within a gilt floral chased mask with matched Arabic alarm dial below, blued steel hands.

Movement

Two train spring driven keyless movement with hour and half hour strike upon a coiled blued steel gong, repeat and alarm, having Ley Roy’s keyless winding system ( patent number 9601 ).

The winding is through the base turning clockwise to wind one train and anti clockwise to wind the other train.

Provenance

Purchased from Camerer Cuss & Co New Oxford street in the 1960s. At this time the clock is said to have been purchased originally from Le roy by the Empress eugenie, the last Empress of the French, when she was exiled in England.
