The ebonised case with glazed sides, true bell pediment topped by a knopped carrying handle with four substantial, turned finials, the base with a concave moulding to the four block feet, the front door with cast escutcheon to the keyhole and silk lined asymmetrically scrolling frets to the top corners. The brass break arch dial with matted centre, ringed winding holes, mock pendulum aperture, applied silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals, outer minutes, inner quarters, Arabic five minutes and fleur de lys half hour divisions with strike/silent to the right, having cast and chased Turkshead spandrels, decoratively cut blued steel hands and a calendar chapter set in the arch incorporating the eight point, chamfered star so typical of this maker, being signed to the base of the arch on a silvered insert plaque, WINDMILLS LONDON. The eight day twin fusee five pillar movement with highly decorative backplate displaying a central cartouche of a female bust surrounded by birds of prey and floral motifs, the heart shaped apron and repeat disc similarly decorated, having hour chamfered blued steel retaining brackets, pendulum rest and repeat cord guide, the going train with verge escapement, knife-edge suspension and bob pendulum with brass rod, the striking train sounding the hours on a polished bell, the repeating train sounding the quarters and hours on a nest of six bells.
