Case

The edges of the two tiered box are protected by round brass moulds. To the top and front of the box is a double line of brass stringing and either side are flush brass carrying handles. The internal blue velvet lining recedes into the bowl of which the chronometer sits. At the top and bottom of the box is a raised dust seal in the form of an ebony mould.

Dial

The dial is conventionally laid out chronometer with subsidiaries for seconds and up & down. A silvered and brass bezel surrounds the dial and its chamfered bezel. Set upon the dial are a gold minute and hour hand.

Movement

This key wound timepiece has a three-quarter plate movement which uses a reverse fusee and has a sub-assembly carrying the balance, escapement and part of the train.
