A Most Fine French Oignion Fusee Verge Watch by Bonneval.
The substantial gilt case with a classical scene to the back depicting nymphs in a woodland landscape having a loose ring pendant and five joint hinge. The decorative dial composed of twelve enamel cartouches with dark blue Roman numerals and an inner chapter, the single, decorative hand of blued steel with winding through the centre. The deep gilt fusee movement with square baluster pillars and verge escapement with mock pendulum visible through the decorative balance bridge, signed to the top plate BONNEVAL A PARIS.
This is a particularly fine example of a French oignion, characterized by its large almost spherical form.
