A Small Charles II Ebony Bracket Clock by Joseph Knibb London
The eight day key wound fully latched movement with split single fusee and pull quarter repeat, having verge escapement with tulip engraved backplate signed within an arc, Joseph Knibb Londini Fecit. The superb fully latched six inch fire gilt brass dial with narrow chapter ring and very finely matted centre. The chapter ring of typical Knibb form with typical Knibb half hour divisions. The dial plate still holds its original fire gilding as can be seen on each edge of the dial, giving it a most warm colour and glow and being signed to the bottom edge, Joseph Knibb Londini Fecit, with finely pierced and chamfered hands and applied fire gilt cherub spandrels. The gilt metal mounted case of typical phase III form being ebony veneered over an oak carcase, having Knibb’s ‘S’ escutcheons to the front door.
This is possibly one of the nicest dials we have seen on a Joseph KnibbTimepiece Bracket Clock.
