A Fine 18 Carat Gold Full Hunter Clock Watch by James McCabe, London
The substantial 18 carat gold engine-turned full hunter case with ribbed band and vacant cartouche to the sprung front cover, the hinged back with inner cuvette engraved, Jas. McCabe Royal Exchange LONDON, with two winding squares (for the strike and going trains) and handset, being numbered 03651. The white enamel dial with black Roman hour numerals, outer minutes chapter and offset seconds at VI, signed below XII, JAS. McCABE Royal Exchange LONDON 03651 and having decorative, gilt hands peculiar to McCabe. Concealed in the bezel are two levers for STRIKE/SILENT, HOURS & QUARTERS or QUARTERS ONLY together with a repeat button in the band. The two train, three quarter plate grande sonnerie movement sounding on two blued steel gongs or repeating at will, having an English lever escapement with blued steel hairspring, split, bi-metallic temperature compensated balance with gold timing screws and signed to the top plate, Jas. McCabe Royal Exchange LONDON 03651.
