A Small English Four Glass by John Walker, London
The 8 day, key wound, fusee movement with chain drive being spring driven, having anchor escapement with lenticular lead filled pendulum bob and reverse mounted regulation with pendulum hold fast and knurled brass thumb screw lock with double screwed cast and polished brass case brackets. The 4 inch square silvered engraved brass dial with floral engraved spandrels, having full minute circles and divisions with Roman numerals to the main hours. The centre signed, John Walker 68 Cornhill & 230 Regents St. London with finely cut heart shaped blued steel hour hand and slender blued steel minute hand, having silvered chamfered brass bezel to the glazed and hinged door.
The superbly figured rosewood veneered case with thick bevel-edged glass exposing the fine movement to the sides and top, having plain flat glass to the rear hinged door. The flat top with thumb moulding below and above a shallow dentil moulding with slender front section having ogee moulding below and above the stepped chamfered base and standing on four rosewood block feet.
A fine example beautifully proportioned and of rich colour by this respected engish maker.
