An 8 Day Striking Mahogany Bracket Clock with alarm by John Taylor, London
The mahogany case with cast, silk lined frets depicting cherubs within scrolls, true bell top with acorn finials and a pierced gallery topped by a single pineapple finial, having handles to the sides, applied mounts flanking the door and to the base with a brass mask to the door, the whole upon four ogee feet. The break arch dial with matted centre, applied silvered brass chapter ring with Roman hour numerals, outer minutes and Arabic five minute divisions, calendar aperture above VI and countersunk cartouche below XII engraved, John Taylor London, having finely pierced, blued steel hands, STRIKE/SILENT aperture in the arch and cast floreate spandrels to the corners. The eight day double fusee striking movement with profusely engraved backplate, verge escapement and rack striking, sounding the hours on a bell, with separate alarm train sounding the alarm on the same bell via a double headed hammer.
